Beyond this though, did you know that certain fruits and veggies are great for getting you in the mood? Yes, there are fruits and vegetables that are considered to be natural aphrodisiacs.
Aphrodisiac foods are known to naturally increase one’s sex drive, stamina and sensations. From leafy greens to fruits with high water content, there are an abundance of foods to help “get you in the mood”.
Pineapple
Bromelain, an enzyme found in pineapple, triggers testosterone production which can elevate a man’s sex drive. High levels of vitamin C and thiamine in pineapple provide a surge of energy to the body too, thus increasing sexual stamina.
Watermelon
Citrulline, an amino acid in watermelon, relaxes and dilates blood vessels which increases blood flow and helps stimulate sexual arousal.
Eggplant
Aside from being a popular innuendo emoji, eggplants are actually loaded with potassium, vitamin B6, and manganese, which are all considered essential nutrients for sexual health. Vitamin B6 helps regulate sex hormone levels, providing a real performance boost.
Cucumber
Cucumbers are loaded with vitamin C and manganese which both play a role in supporting sexual health, particularily elevating energy and increasing libido. Vitamin C improves blood flow which can help erectile function.
Berries (strawberries and raspberries)
These fruits are loaded with zinc which is essential for both men and women. In men, zinc controls testosterone levels, which is responsible for producing sperm. It is important that men load up on zinc as their zinc levels reduce during intercourse. It also helps your body release more oxytocin, also known as the “love” hormone, because of its link to feelings of love and sexual arousal.
Pomegranates
If you have heard anything about pomegranates, you probably know that they are packed with antioxidants. This is not only good for your skin, but in the bedroom as well! Antioxidants help you feel good and look good by decreasing inflammation, which leads to increased blood flow throughout the body, including erogenous zones.
Peach
Packed with vitamin A and vitamin C, peaches provide the necessary energy to sustain sexual activity. Vitamin C is also known to increase sperm count.
Red Ginseng
Ginseng has been shown to improve sexual desire and arousal in both sexes while improving erectile function.
Avocados
Versatile and nourishing, avocados are loaded with Folic acid, vitamin E and vitamin B6, which are all necessary for a healthy sex drive. Folic acid pumps the body with energy, while vitamin B6 stabilizes one’s hormones. Vitamin E is a key antioxidant that helps to widen blood vessels and may also reduce sperm DNA damage.
Garlic
I’ll admit, I don’t find garlic too sexy myself but it contains a compound called allicin, which can help to boost blood flow and increase libido. However, garlic breath can kill the mood, so be sure to pop a mint after eating garlicky foods.
Oysters
Oysters have been considered aphrodisiacs for hundreds of years. Scientific studies conclude they have unique amino acids that help to stimulate sexual desire in men and women.
