Best Body Masks

Face masks became somewhat of a craze within the past few years, we see them all over Instagram, in every beauty store, in our grocery stores etc. But what about body masks? The lesser known type of mask that you just might want to try.

 

I first became introduced to body masks when my facialist Gina Mari recommended one that she carried by Kayo. The “detox” mask which doubles as a body scrub, uses Charcoal and Kaolin clay to draw out impurities while using volcanic pumice to buff away dry, dead skin. The result? Clean, smooth, nourished skin that we all strive for. 

 

Some other body masks that I’ve tried and love include:

 

True Botanicals Resurfacing Body Mask- this one uses lactic acid to give your body a gentle chemical peel while also nourishing it with sandalwood oil and green tea.

 

I also love the Stacked Skincare five acid body peel which works to remove dark spots left by ingrown hairs and other marks we typically get on our legs.

 

The Body Shop Moroccan Clay Mask- This mask is designed to absorb excess water and oil in our skin to leave it feeling toned and tight. 

 

Some of the best masks are ones you can make yourself using only a few simple ingredients from the grocery store. I personally love a DIY coconut oil oil body mask which uses extra virgin coconut oil, brown sugar, Manuka honey, turmeric, lemon juice and a few drops of pure essential peppermint oil. This mask exfoliates, brightens and invigorates the skin and is great to do before a vacation or whenever your body needs some TLC. 

 

At Home Body Mask Recipe:

 

6-7 tbsp of melted coconut oil

2 tbsp of brown sugar

2 tbsp of Manuka Honey

1 tsp of turmeric

Half of a lemon

4-5 drops of pure essential peppermint oil 

 

I recommend doing this in a bathtub because it’s a bit messy.

 

-Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and rub over entire body

-Focus on scrubbing area like knees, elbows, under the arms and around your pelvic area to get your lymph flowing

-Let it sit for 10 minutes

-Rinse off with warm water

-Once mask is fully rinsed off, do a final rinse with cold water to close up your pores
