Want Healthy Hair? Trying Adding Eggs

By Megan Soria

Scrambled, sunny-side up, boiled or poached—I’m a big fan of eggs. Personally, I prefer them over-easy on avocado toast— or raw, on my hair.

Eggs are known to have many natural beauty benefits because of their richness in biotin, vitamins and protein, and are often included in various natural beauty recipes. I’ve used raw eggs in a facemask or a nail-mask, but I’ve found that eggs particularly do wonders for my hair.

When my hair is feeling dry or dull, I turn to my fridge to bring it back to life. Egg hair masks are great for adding shine, strength, softness and growth to your hair— and depending on what issue you want to tackle for your hair type, adjusting the ingredients from your own pantry can cater to specific hair needs.

Egg yolks are especially great for dry hair, and egg whites for oily hair. My scalp tends to be oily and my strands and ends tend to be dry. I use the egg whites mixture on my scalp and yolk mixture throughout my hair.

Adding other natural ingredients can add additional benefits to your hair. I add elements based on their specific properties

Apple Cider Vinegar helps remove build-up and dirt, and I use it particularly for balancing my normal pH levels.

Avocados are rich in fatty acids and are great for nourishment and moisture.

Bananas are rich in nutrients for hair strength and also contain antimicrobial properties that can help relieve a dry and flaky scalp. The thick texture is great for applying, and the scent is delicious.

These are some easy, inexpensive recipes for healthy hair at home, simply apply any of the below mixtures throughout damp hair from roots to tips, using a wide-tooth comb to distribute evenly. Keep hair up under a shower cap for 20 minutes, and remember to rinse with cool to lukewarm water to avoid “cooking” the eggs and forming clumps. Follow with shampoo and conditioner and enjoy your smooth and healthy locks.

Reducing Inflammation Through Exercise

By @coreflexpilates founder @chrisbardawil Joint pain after exercise, headaches or brain fog after a bad night's sleep, and digestive distress after eating are all symptoms of systemic inflammation. While there are many articles and discussions about various foods and diets to reduce inflammation, little attention is paid to reducing inflammation through exercise. Inflammation in itself isn't a bad thing....

Restrictive Diets: The Hidden Costs on your Gut, Mind, and Immune System

By: @drmelissa.co ‘Restrictive diet’ is an umbrella term that encompasses changes to how, when and what one eats. To some, avoiding junk food is considered restrictive; to others, a restrictive diet may be as extreme as consuming food from only one food group or strictly avoiding others. Regardless, the ultimate question is, when do restrictive diets help and when do they harm?
